Vodafone ties up with Opera – customized Opera Mini all set to blaze Indian market

Vodafone with customized Opera Mini

Vodafone in collaboration with Opera has officially declared the release of customized Opera Mini into the Indian market. The idea is to introduce low cost and high performance mobile internet services to the Indian consumers.

The idea is expected to be accomplished with the implementation of low cost handsets, low tariffs, and light weight Opera Mini browser that uses minimal network bandwidth, minimal processing resources and saves as much as 90% of data using compression technology. This plan aims at faster web page loading even on a 2G connection (by the use of stored data concept) and also save the user’s money on data charges (by the use of minimal network bandwidth). Thereby, the user is privileged to get a highly satisfying internet experience on a budget-friendly tariff.

It is proposed that the specially customized version of Opera Mini would be optimized for Vodafone network and preloaded into 20 Vodafone handsets. However, it is earmarked to be supported by over 250 handsets that are designed to run Opera browser. Vodafone also hints on incorporating a new user-friendly on-screen interface, to simplify the browsing experience of users with lower literacy levels. The intuitive interface is said to feature: simple sequential instructions in local languages, along with a dynamic range of icons for quick navigation.

The prospective project is slated to make its first launch in India, South Africa, Turkey, Tanzania and Egypt followed by the other markets in the near future.
