Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ available for pre-orders in India for an advance payment of Rs 2,000
The smartphones were announced at MWC 2018 and are up for pre-orders from the company’s official online store and from select offline Samsung shops.
Samsung has unveiled its Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2018. The new devices sport some major upgrades in the camera department, thanks to the variable aperture and the Super Speed Dual Pixel sensors. The company announced that the handsets will go on sale from March 16 in the US, but didn’t reveal the pricing and availability details for India. However, the smartphones are now available for pre-order in the country and interested customers need to pay Rs 2,000 to secure a handset for themselves. The Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus can be pre-booked from the company’s select offline stores and the online store as well.
While pre-booking the smartphones online, customers need to make an initial payment of Rs 2,000. Both the devices are available in Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, and Coral Blue colour variants but the 256GB storage variant of both the smartphones are available only while pre-ordering the Midnight Black variant. Their 64GB ROM model is available with all the three colour options. After selecting a model, the user can sign-in or continue as a guest to fill-in the required details, after which they will receive a confirmation email/SMS confirming the registration.
The offline pre-bookings for the smartphones are available at select samsung stores. A buyer can visit the store and pay Rs 2,000 as the pre-booking amount. They then need to provide their details like their name, email-id and phone number and will be contacted when the smartphone is available.
In the US, Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are expected to be priced starting at $719.99 (Rs 46,600 approx) and $839.99 (Rs 54,400 approx) respectively. The former sports a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Curved Super AMOLED 18.5:9 display, whereas the Galaxy S9 Plus features a 6.2-inch display with the same resolution, panel and display aspect ratio. Both the smartphones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC in the US and will be running on the company’s own Exynos 9810 SoC in India and some other regions. The Galaxy S9 comes with 4GB RAM, whereas the S9 Plus will be available with 6GB RAM and both the smartphones come in internal storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.
The cameras on both the Galaxy smartphones feature a variable aperture lens which can be switched between f/1.5 for capturing better low-light images and f/2.4 for regular shots. The Samsung Galaxy S9 features a single 12MP rear camera with OIS (F1.5/F2.4), whereas the Galaxy S9 Plus sports a dual camera setup with a 12MP wide angle lens and another one is a 12MP telephoto lens. The rear camera on both phones support Super Speed Dual Pixel autofocus and come with an 8MP front facing camera with f/1.7 aperture lens. You can read more about the two smartphones in detail here.
