Samsung is rumoured to have been working on two more variants of the Galaxy S6, due for release in the upcoming weeks

Samsung has reportedly been working on two new variants of the Galaxy S6. Rumours coming in from SamMobile suggest that the new variants, named S6 Active and S6 Plus, will be “even better” than the ones released.

The S6 Active may come with a rugged waterproof body, a 5.1” QHD Super AMOLED+ display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels (similar to the one on the Galaxy S6), 3GB of RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage, 16 megapixel primary camera, 5 megapixel front camera and an Exynos 7420 octa-core processor. It may also feature an expandable memory slot, a bigger battery and physical buttons on the front. However, the fingerprint reader and heart rate monitor may be dropped. The Galaxy S6 Active is also going to be bigger in dimensions than the Galaxy S6.

The Galaxy S6 Plus, on the other hand, will feature a bigger 5.5” Super AMOLED curved dual-edge display and will be powered by the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor. It might, as per rumours, lack the S-Pen functionality. Rest of the features are likely to remain similar to that of the other variants in the S6 stable.

Part of Samsung’s Project Zen, the S6 Plus is reportedly the flagship smartphone that Samsung has been working on for years, and aims at rectifying all that went wrong with the Galaxy S4 & S5. Reported for release in the coming weeks, we’ll soon get to see if Samsung finally gets all of its cards right.
