Samsung Galaxy Note III rumoured to have 3GB of RAM
HIGHLIGHTS

Rumours circulating the Internet suggest that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note III will have 3GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera and be 8mm thick.

Rumours about Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Note device has been making the rounds on the Internet for quite some time now and with every new rumour some new information about the specifications is revealed. This time around, we hear that the upcoming phablet will house 3GB of RAM. Ironically, the first generation Note had 1GB of RAM, the Note II has 2GB so is Samsung trying to pull off a trend with the Note II by housing 3GB of RAM?

For the rest of the specifications, the Galaxy Note III is rumoured to house a 5.7-inch or 5.99-inch sAMOLED Full HD display. The Note II has a 5.5-inch display and there are some rumours which suggests that the Note III might have a larger than 6-inch display. We have already seen the likes of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the Huawei Ascend Mate cross the 6-inch display mark so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Samsung does the same with the Note III. On the other hand, these large display smartphones are bridging the gap between smartphones and 7-inch tablets. The question remains as to whether consumers prefer these devices to traditional 4.5 to 5-inch smartphones.

For the power under the hood, the Note III may have an octa-core or Snapdragon 800 chipset. The clock speeds of the CPU are still unknown and there is no speculative information available to suggest the same. The rear of the Note III will have a 13MP camera and the device is expected to run on Android 4.3 straight out of the box. This means that Google will show off the next iteration of the Android OS before the launch of the Note III and all the lucky Nexus users will be the first ones to get access to it.

Staying true to the Note tradition, the third device in the series will house the S Pen and show off all the features that come with it. When we transited from the Note 1 to the Note II, Samsung added a bunch of features to the S Pen along with making it bigger and more comfortable to hold.

The Note III may be announced at IFA 2013 in Berlin but we wouldn’t get our hopes too high. Just like Apple, Samsung hosts its own events to unveil their flagship devices. Maybe we can see a Samsung event where the company will unveil the Note III?

Even though Samsung has developed a name for itself in the market, the company will need to do something radical as we are seeing devices such as the Huawei Ascend Mate and the LG Optimus G Pro launching in India boasting of some impressive specifications and features.
