Here is everything we know about the OnePlus Nord. The OnePlus Nord is supposed to kick off a wave of other Nord devices. OnePlus is holding the world’s first AR launch event for the OnePlus Nord on July 21
OnePlus is going back to its roots and is gearing up to launch a mid-range phone called the OnePlus Nord on July 21. This phone is supposed to kick off a brand new product line, of the same name, consisting of affordable OnePlus devices.
OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, has confirmed that the phone will launch first in India and Europe at a price under $500 or Rs 38,000 (approx directly converted), but the exact pricing is still not known. For this price, OnePlus is packing the phone with great specs including a Snapdragon 765G processor and a 90 Hz Super AMOLED refresh rate panel. The phone is also confirmed to support 5G and NFC. According to leaks and rumours, the device will feature a 6.55-inch Super AMOLED display with 408ppi pixel density in a 20:9 aspect ratio, 4300 mAh battery which supports Warp 30T fast charging and an under the display fingerprint scanner. The Nord is also rumoured to have two spec variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. OnePlus confirmed that the device will not be IP68 rated and according to leaks we should not expect wireless charging either.
Recently in an interview with tech Youtuber, Marques Brownlee aka MKBHD, Carl Pei gave us the first glimpse of the new phone. On the top left corner on the front, we see a pill-shaped dual selfie camera. We could see thick bezels running along the edge of the device like those in the iPhone XR and iPhone 11. On the back, we saw something similar to the OnePlus 8 with some OnePlus branding, a camera strip and curved edges. The devices that Pei showcased were in two colours: teal and grey/black with glossy finishes. Unlike previous OnePlus devices, the camera strip was positioned on the top left corner instead of the centre. The camera strip consisted of 4 lenses which Pei said will be “flagship quality.” According to leaks, the rear camera consists of a 48-megapixel wide senor, 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with a 119-degree field of view, 5-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro senor. On the front, the device is rumoured to sport 32-megapixel wide sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. During this interview, Pei confirmed that the device will not feature a headphone jack and praised the technology in Truly Wireless Earbuds, hinting at the upcoming OnePlus Buds.
Pre-orders for the device have already begun today at 1:30 PM IST on Amazon India. Customers will be entitled to two surprise gift boxes; one after pre-ordering and the other after completing the purchase. Pre-ordering the device will cost Rs.499.
