OnePlus is gearing up to unveil its next-generation flagship model, the OnePlus 16. Much like the previous models, the smartphone will first launch in the Chinese market, followed by a global launch. While the official smartphone launch is still sometime away, OnePlus has started teasing certain things. Adding to the excitement, leaks and rumours have also started painting a clear picture of what the users can expect with the upcoming model. One such leak has recently surfaced online that claims that the OnePlus 16, much like its predecessors, will house a BOE X-driven panel. OnePlus 16: Display (Expected)

Tipster Digital Chat Station recently posted on Weibo, claiming that the OnePlus 16 will continue to use BOE panels but could switch from the BOE X3 panel used on the OnePlus 15 to the newer BOE X4 panel. The display is rumoured to measure between 6.78 and 6.82 inches and feature a 1.5K LTPO AMOLED panel. Moreover, with the device expected to feature the new BOE X4 panel, the display could offer an unusually high refresh rate of up to 185Hz.

OnePlus 16: Specs (Expected)

The phone is reportedly being positioned around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM and 512GB of storage. Out of the box, the OnePlus 16 is expected to run ColorOS 17, which is a skin based on Android 17.

One of the biggest reported upgrades on the upcoming flagship device is that it could come packed with a 9,000mAh battery combined with 120W wired charging. If accurate, this would make battery capacity one of the phone’s standout features.

To please the camera enthusiasts, the smartphone may feature a triple-camera setup at the rear end much like the OnePlus 15, the current generation’s flagship model. Rumours suggest that it may come with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 200MP periscope telephoto, offering up to 3x optical zoom. The details about the front camera still remain under wraps.

OnePlus 16: Gaming upgrades (Teased)

During the Snapdragon’s Gaming Technology Awards, OnePlus China president Li Jie confirmed that the company will bring major gaming upgrades with the upcoming flagship model, the OnePlus 16. He stated that the makers are planning to include a faster refresh rate display, an improved Fengchi gaming engine, and upgraded triple-core hardware designed for e-sports.

OnePlus 16: Launch timeline and price

The OnePlus 16 is anticipated to launch in the Chinese market in October 2026. However, the device is expected to reach the Indian and global markets around a month later, in November. Talking about the Indian pricing, the OnePlus 16 could launch with a price tag close to Rs 80,000. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by OnePlus yet, so these details should be treated as leaks and speculation.
