The OnePlus 15 has already launched globally, and on paper, it appears to be a solid all-around upgrade. It offers powerful performance, a high-quality display, and a long battery life. However, while its camera setup is decent, there is definitely need for improvement. Now, the early leaks suggest that OnePlus may have finally heard this feedback and may address this gap with the OnePlus, which may launch late next year.

As per the leaks, the OnePlus may be working on fitting a 200MP camera sensor on the OnePlus 16. The leak claims that the upcoming flagship will share its main and telephoto camera hardware with Oppo’s future Find N6, an overlap between two brands which we have been seeing for years. The similar strategy was seen with Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus 15, which featured identical main and telephoto sensors.
If the leaks are true, this can be a big upgrade for the OnePlus, especially after the OnePlus 15 faced criticism for using the smaller camera sensors compared to the OnePlus 13. While image quality didn’t dramatically suffer, many users viewed the move as a step backwards for a premium device.
If we see the industry trends, there are high chances that OnePlus could deploy the 200MP sensor as a telephoto camera rather than a primary shooter, following rivals like Vivo and Xiaomi. Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra series remains one of the few flagships to use a 200MP sensor as its main camera.
OnePlus 16 launch timeline
The OnePlus 16 is said to launch in October 2026. The device could also see a price hike compared to the OnePlus 15. However, the details remain under the wraps.
