Qualcomm has recently unveiled its latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Smartphone manufacturers, including OnePlus, are gearing up to release their upcoming flagship smartphones, such as the OnePlus 12, which will be powered by the new chipset. In addition to this flagship release, OnePlus is also reportedly working on launching a sub-flagship smartphone that will utilise the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which was released last year.

X tipster @ShishirShelke1 has provided insights into potential improvements that could distinguish the OnePlus 12R from its predecessor, the OnePlus 11R, reports Gizmochina.
The camera system of the OnePlus 12R is also expected to come with an upgrade with the addition of a 32MP telephoto lens boasting 2x zoom capability. This marks a substantial improvement over the 2MP macro camera found in the OnePlus 11R.
Also, the OnePlus 12R’s display will likely feature a major improvement in brightness, now reaching up to 3000nits. For comparison, OnePlus 11R’s display offers a peak brightness of 1400 nits.
The frame of the upcoming device is expected to be made out of metal rather than plastic. Moreover, the OnePlus 12R smartphone model will likely come packed with a 5,500mAh battery.
While the leak does not reveal a launch date, the OnePlus 12R smartphone is anticipated to be unveiled shortly after the launch of the OnePlus 12.
According to previous leaks, the OnePlus 12R will likely be equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The display is expected to offer 1.5K resolution.
