Nokia 3 is the entry level smartphone in HMD Global's product lineup. The handset is getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat update now and will soon receive Oreo update as well.

Nokia 3, the entry-level Android smartphone from HMD Global is getting the latest version of Nougat. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global confirmed on Twitter that Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Nokia 3 has been approved and has begun rolling out. The latest Nougat update for Nokia 3 was first confirmed by the executive at the end of July.

Sarvikas added that the company plans to phase the update over a few days to ensure quality. The company is already said to be working on Android 8.0 Oreo update for its smartphones. The company is expected to start pushing Android 8.0 to Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and the flagship Nokia 8 smartphones.

To recall, HMD Global had launched Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 in India in June and Nokia 3 was the first smartphone to go on sale. Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 as offline exclusive smartphones while Nokia 6 is available online exclusively from Amazon India. Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 debuted with Android 7.1.1 Nougat while Nokia 3 ran a bit older Android 7.0 Nougat version.

With all the three smartphones running latest flavour of Android Nougat, it is possible that all three devices will get Oreo update at the same time. In terms of specifications, Nokia 3 sports a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by MediaTek MT6737 chipset. The handset offers 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. There are 8MP front and rear cameras with f/2.0 aperture and 720p video recording.

Nokia 3 supports dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack. The handset is backed by a 2630mAh battery and will be available in silver, matte black, tempered blue and copper white colour options. Nokia 3 is available from major retail stores in the country at Rs 9,499.
