HMD Global’s General Manager for Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, Mark Trundle has confirmed that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones will be receiving Android Oreo update by the end of this year. In an interview with GadgetGaul and Nokianesia, Trundle revealed that the Oreo updates for aforementioned Nokia devices are ready and will be rolled-out before Christmas this year.
The news comes soon after the company’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas teased an Android Oreo update for the company’s latest flagship, the Nokia 8. He had posted an image on Twitter, which showed Nokia 8 one reboot away from being upgraded to Android Oreo. He also said that the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 smartphones will very soon receive the Oreo update as well.
Apart from Nokia, Sony, OnePlus, Motorola and many other smartphone manufacturers have confirmed their list of devices receiving Android Oreo. Nokia launched its flagship smartphone Nokia 8 in India on September 26.
The Nokia 8 sports a 5.3-Inch QHD screen with an 'Always On' display, which is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 835 mobile platform and comes with 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded upto 128GB via a microSD card. The device features a 13MP dual-camera setup on the rear and a 13MP front-facing camera. Its cameras come with ZEISS optics. The Nokia 8 is powered by a 3,090mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support and currently runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
