Micromax is expected to launch the A120 Canvas HD Pro soon. The smartphone will have a 5.5-inch full HD display and will run on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.

Information circulating the Internet suggests that Micromax is all set to launch the successor to the A116 Canvas HD. Christened the A120 Canvas HD Pro, the device is according to reports is expected to launch on June 30 and be priced around the Rs. 20,000 mark. The Micromax A120 Canvas HD Pro was spotted on Sulekha.com. As of writing this story, the price was not mentioned on the website.

The Micromax A120 Canvas HD Pro will have a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920×1080 pixel display, and will run on a Cortex A7 quad-core processor. The phablet will also house the PowerVR Series 5XT GPU and 2GB of RAM. Looking at the GPU pairing and Cortex A7 spec, we presume Micromax will once again be using the MediaTek MT6589 chipset. The rear of the A120 will have a 13MP camera and the front will have a 3.2MP camera for video calling. It will sport 8GB built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card. The Canvas HD Pro supports dual-SIM capabilities as well. A 3,000mAh battery powers the device.

The Micromax A116 Canvas HD was the first budget quad-core 5-inch smartphone with a 720p HD display. It brought some great processing power and people who wanted to have a fulfilling Android experience on a budget device could do so with the Canvas HD. It started the trend of the budget quad-core smartphone in India, and since its launch, numerous other such devices have been released.

The Canvas HD Pro looks to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The Note II boasts of a 5.5-inch display and is priced at Rs. 36,645. The device is a behemoth with its performance and the hefty price tag. With a Rs. 20,000 price tag and some impressive specifications under the hood, the Canvas HD Pro aims to become the affordable 5.5-inch phablet. Its success can only be determined once the device is launched.

Micromax has captured the market with the launch of smartphones is a wide price bracket ranging from a few thousand rupees all the way up to Rs. 15,000. Apart from feature and smartphones, Micromax also sells tablets in the Indian market. These too are basic devices meant for those that want an entry-level tablet experience. Micromax is also expected to refresh its tablet lineup soon.
