LG Optimus 4X HD, L7 and L9 to receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update soon

LG has announced via its Hong Kong Facebook page that three of its previous generation smartphones will receive the Jelly Bean update in the first half of 2013.

LG has announced that three of its smartphones, the Optimus 4X HD, L7 and L9 will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in the first half of 2013. There is no actual release date for the update and a six-month timeline seems to be quite vague. The announcement comes from the LG Hong Kong Facebook page.

The LG Optimus 4X HD currently runs on Android 4.0.3 ICS, and under the hood, is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU coupled with 1GB RAM. It has a 4.7-inch HD-IPS LCD display with a 1280x 720 pixels resolution. It also has 16GB built-in storage (12 GB user available), with microSD slot up to 32GB. It has an 8MP camera with 1080p HD videos and has a 2150mAh battery.

The 4X HD is LG’s quad-core smartphone that competes with the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X. The S III has already received the Jelly Bean update. You can read our in-depth review of the 4X HD here.

The LG Optimus L7 runs on Android 4.0 ICS, has a 4.3-inch display with a 480×800 resolution, and a 1GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. It has a 5MP primary camera with a 0.3MP camera for video calls. It also houses a 1700mAh battery along with 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. LG recently announced a dual-SIM version of the L7 called the L7II dual. The specifications are the same as the L7 with the only difference being that the device supports dial-SIM and runs on Jelly Bean straight out of the box. Last but not least, we have the LG Optimus L9. The Optimus L9 features a 4.7-inch IPS display with 960 x 540 pixels resolution. It sports a 5MP camera with LED flash and VGA front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM and a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4GB built-in storage and a 2,150mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 11.6 hours talk time in 3G.

For connectivity, the Optimus L9 supports 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth and A-GPS. The device measures 131.9 x 68.2 x 9.1mm and weighs around 125 grams.

As of now, the LG Optimus 4X HD is available for Rs. 27,490; the LG Optimus L7 is available for Rs. 15,990 and the LG Optimus L9 is available for Rs. 18,490.
