A Bloomberg report revealed that Apple has already begun training thousands of workers at the facility, which is managed by its partner Foxconn. It has started with its ‘new product introduction’ (NPI) process at Foxconn’s facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.

For this, the initial phase will involve preparing the assembly lines and conducting rigorous tests to ensure the new iPhone models meet Apple’s high standards. Once the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are officially launched globally, the production process will transition into mass production.

Just a few weeks after the launch of the iPhone 16 series, Foxconn can start the assembling process in India. This will allow for better device availability in India. With this strategy, Apple is planning to meet the domestic demand quickly and capitalise on the growing market for high-end smartphones in the region.

In addition to Foxconn, Apple’s other Indian partners, Pegatron’s local unit, and the Tata Group, will soon start the manufacturing of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The vanilla iPhone 16, will also be assembled in India. It is expected to be available on the same day it launches globally.

This move is a part of the broader strategy to diversify production and reduce reliance on Chinese manufacturing. Apple is really trying to expand its market footprint in India.

Now, let’s just wait for Apple to announce the launch of the iPhone 16 series officially.
