iOS users 7x more active online compared to Android users
Net Applications report says that iOS users are seven times more active online than Android users.
According to a recent report by Net Applications, iOS users spend seven times more time online compared to Android users.
Net Applications tracked the data from 40,000 websites to monitor traffic from mobile devices. The firm reported that there are 44.62% Android users, 44.19% iOS users and the rest taken by other mobile platforms.
While Android users have a slightly greater percentage, when you take into account that iOS has far fewer people actually using the OS, you can conclude that a greater percentage of all iOS users spend time browsing the web on their devices than their Android counterparts.
Android has over 80% of the market share in terms of handset sales while iOS has just 11.9%, making Android sales over seven times more prevalent in Q2 2014 than the iOS platform. This shows the difference in the usage of the two platforms in an even bigger contrast.
The Android market share consists of affordable or budget smartphones, that are mainly used for voice calling or messaging, while iOS devices are high-end and meant for tech savvy users. This also reveals why developers and advertisers prefer to target iOS platform for apps.
According to a recent report, Android and iPhone users spend 65% more time using apps today than they did two years ago. The report stated that social and search accounts for the majority of the time spent in apps, while the second most popular app category is entertainment followed by communication apps such as WhatsApp and Facetime. The report revealed that 18-24 year olds more time on apps, while 25-34 year-olds use more apps in a month.
