iOS 26.5: Features

First and foremost, let’s take a detailed look at everything new that is getting added into the OS. While there haven’t been any major changes to the overall user experience, Apple has focused on bringing refinements to the messaging app and Apple Maps and adding new wallpapers.
Talking about the messaging app, it is finally getting support for RCS messages with full encryption. This means that users will finally be able to enjoy end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging between iPhone and Android devices. Interestingly, Apple had introduced the feature earlier during the iOS 26.4 beta window, but it did not make it to the stable release.
Moving on, Apple Maps is getting a new feature called ‘Suggested Places’ within the app. The usage of this feature is pretty interesting, as it will recommend locations to users based on nearby trends, recent searches and location activity.
Last but not least, ahead of Pride Month, which falls in June of every year, Apple is also expected to bring out new Pride Edition wallpapers for iPhone users. The colour combinations are definitely going to look unique and interesting this year because of liquid glass.
