Huawei Ascend D2 listed as ‘upcoming model’ on official Indian site

Huawei's full HD 5-inch smartphone, the Ascend D2, is listed as a forthcoming item on the Huawei official website, as well as on an Indian online shopping portal.

First unveiled in January 2013 at CES 2013, the Huawei Ascend D2 is all set to launch in India soon. The smartphone is listed as a forthcoming item on the Huawei official India website (as spotted by Gizbot) as well as on the shopping portal, infibeam.com. There is no information available about the pricing of the smartphone.

The Huawei Ascend D2 has a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1280 pixels and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box. The OS is skinned with Huawei’s Emotion UI, one that we have seen on the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link. In terms of specifications under the hood, the D2 has Huawei’s K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core CPU along with 2GB of RAM. It has a whopping 13MP BSI rear-facing camera along with a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls. It also sports a 3000mAh battery. The D2 also boasts of being waterproof.

Last month Huawei launched the Ascend Mate in India priced at Rs. 24,900. The device is a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. Coming to the power under the hood of the Ascend mate, the 6.1-inch IPS display has a 1280×720 pixel resolution giving it a pixel density of 241ppi. The display also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The rear of the smartphone has the 8MP camera and the front has a 1MP camera. Apart from DLNA, the Ascend Mate also comes with AirSharing. A quad-core 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM power the Ascend Mate.
