Following a series of rumours and leaks, HTC has finally put up a definitive clue to the fate of the HTC M7 / One on their website, making countdowns exciting once again.
If you’ve been wondering what’s been happening to the much spoken about HTC M7, or the HTC One as it now being expected to be called, a countdown on the Taiwanese company’s site might have a rather in-your-face clue.
The company has brazenly posted a countdown on their site for their February 19 event, but every time a ‘1’ comes around in the seconds place, it is highlighted in a rather pleasing lime green shade. Along with that, every time the clock hits a ‘1’ in the seconds place, a small video also plays in the background, complete with a close-up of the HTC logo and lots of lens flare, to possibly make it difficult to extract any details from it, except for perhaps an ubiquitous camera lens, HTC branding on a white background, and a metal rim or back panel.
The HTC One was earlier rumoured under the “M7” moniker and is reported to sport some mighty impressive specs, at least on paper. It is supposed that the One will ship with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB stock built-in storage. Another exciting feature of the upcoming phone will be the 4.7-inch display, which is an SLCD3 panel with a 1920×1080 pixel full HD resolution pegging its pixel density at a gorgeous 468 ppi.
The most unique feature of the phone, however, is being rumoured to be the new imaging tech inside the phone. It is being reported that HTC might ditch the ‘megapixel’ title in favour of “ultrapixel” by using a 3 slab-array of 4.3 megapixel sensors sandwiched into one which would allow the camera in this phone to deliver images with never before seen clarity and colour depth, but in a cell phone camera of course.
Of course, all the specs make the HTC One (or the M7) look like an incredibly amazing phone, but there’s only so much hope we can peg on rumours. Our recommendation is to not get your hopes up and eagerly look forward to the February 19 event.
