Steps to follow if your phone gets water-damaged

- First up, as soon as you see that your device has fallen into water, it is very important to take it out of there as soon as possible. The basic step is to get hold of the device and switch it off right away.
- Next up, if you have put on any phone cases, then it is recommended to remove them. Not only that, but generally it is said to remove the SIM card inside, the memory card, and any other attached accessories from the device.
- It is recommended to use a dry cloth to wipe the surface of the device. Also, it is advised to avoid shaking the phone very much, as this can push water deeper.
- If the phone doesn’t turn on after patting it dry with the cloth, or if you notice any other issues, then it is recommended to take the phone to a repair shop, or preferably the service centre.
Things to avoid
There are also some things that you should avoid in case your phone has been water-damaged. While it may feel like using something like a hair dryer could do the job quickly, the major issue is that heat can damage internal components. The same can be said for putting the device in direct sunlight or on a hot surface, as it could cause further problems.
Not only that, but it is also recommended to avoid putting the phone into rice. While this home remedy may seem like it could work, the reality is that it’s not always the most optimal solution. While rice can absorb moisture, it won’t be able to remove the water trapped inside. Instead, it is recommended to use silica gel packets, as they work a lot better.
Prevention tip for Holi
