Google Pixel 9a vs Pixel 8a: All the big upgrades that you can expect

Google can soon extend its Pixel 9 lineup with the more affordable Pixel 9a. If rumours are to be believed, the tech giant can launch the Pixel 9a next month. It is expected to carry a lot of upgrades over last year’s Pixel 8a. As is the case always, the rumour mill is already running at full speed with leaks and rumours about what we can expect from this year’s Pixel 9a.

The Pixel 9a is expected to feature a new design with a flat camera module. It can house two sensors, instead of the massive camera bump seen on the Pixel 8a. According to leaks, the Pixel 9a will be slightly taller than its predecessor and can measure around 154.7 x 73.3 x 8.9mm, with a flat frame and curved edges.

In terms of display, the Pixel 9a is likely to increase in size. While the Pixel 8a featured a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the Pixel 9a is expected to feature a larger 6.3-inch OLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate.

On the performance front, the Pixel 9 a is expected to be powered by the new Tensor G4 chipset, an upgrade from the Tensor G3 found in the Pixel 8a.

This time, the Pixel 9a is expected to see a downgrade in its camera resolution when compared to the Pixel 8a. While the Pixel 8a had a 64-megapixel main sensor, leaks suggest that the Pixel 9a will feature a 48-megapixel primary camera. The secondary 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor can remain the same as the Pixel 8a.

For now, let’s take this information with a pinch of salt as Google has not shared any details about the upcoming launch yet.
