In the Android 14 QPR1 update, Google introduced a new extension of battery stats.

In the March 2024 update for Pixel phones, this feature suddenly vanished.

According to Google on a bug tracker page, the disappearance of the battery stats feature in the March 2024 update for Pixel phones was actually intended behaviour. This page was never meant to be visible on existing devices. Instead, Android’s battery stats are intended to be supported only on Pixel 8a and future Pixel models.

“We only enable this page on Pixel 8a and beyond, so this is WAI(Working as Intended),” the tech giant said.

While now we have confirmation of the Pixel 8a and the upcoming feature for future Pixels, it remains unclear why the battery stats feature appeared on existing Pixels initially.

Recently, it was reported that the Pixel 8a could be pricier than its predecessor, Pixel 7a. The price rise could be because the Pixel 8a is expected to come with 128GB and 256GB storage options. For those who are unaware, Google offers the Pixel 7a with only a 128GB storage option.

The Pixel 8a with 128GB storage could be priced at EUR 569.90 (approx ₹51,300). Meanwhile, the 256GB storage option of the Pixel 8a is expected to cost EUR 630 (approx ₹56,700).

The Google Pixel 8a will likely be available in four colour options: Obsidian (Black), Porcelain (Beige), Bay (Light Blue), and Mint (Light Green).

Rumours suggest that the Pixel 8a is expected to be powered by the Google Tensor G3 octa-core SoC. The Pixel 8a will likely come with a much rounder design as compared to its predecessor.

The Pixel 8a is expected to house two cameras on the back in the beam design. Google will likely include the Google logo at the centre of the rear panel of the smartphone. Also, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with 27W wired fast charging support.
