Digit has gained access to a render and specifications of a phone codenamed ‘Project Tesseract’. The smartphone will be made in India by a Bangalore based start-up. Project Tesseract aims to deliver a flagship class experience with Stock Android at an affordable price, something OnePlus has been doing for a while. The company also claims that security and privacy are important pillars and this will reflect in the smartphone.
Talking about the specifications, Project Tesseract will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM. It will be available in two storage options – 128GB and 256GB. Talking about the optics, it will have a dual 12MP camera setup at the back where one of the camera’s will have a f.15 aperture. The front will have a 16MP camera.
The Bangalore based start-up claims that the device will run on Stock Android 8 out of the box and will get regular updates. It will also get two generations of Android updates which means that it will get the Android P and Q update. Under the hood, a 4000mAh battery will power the device. From the leaked render, it looks like the smartphone will be sleek, so it remains to be seen how such a large battery will be accommodated.
When it comes to the display, Project Tesseract will have a 6-inch 2K 18:9 Super AMOLED display with HDR support. The company claims that it not going the Apple way and the phone will not have a notch.
A cherry on the cake is that the smartphone will be made in India and our sources tell us that because of the Make in India initiative, the phone will be competitively priced, transferring the benefits the manufacturer receives to the consumer. Sounds like a Xiaomi thing to do. What do you think of Project Tesseract? Is this the OnePlus killer we’ve been waiting for?
