HIGHLIGHTS

Taiwanese company Asus has announced a India-first launch in its Zenfestival on August 6.

Taiwanese smartphone maker Asus is gearing up to launch at least three new smartphones in India. The company has announced its Zenfestival for August 6, where it will launch the Asus Zenfone Selfie, Zenfone Laser and Zenfone Deluxe smartphone in the country. While the Zenfone Selfie is a selfie oriented smartphone, with a 13MP front camera, the Zenfone Laser has a 13MP rear camera, with a laser assisted auto-focus system. The Zenfone Deluxe on the other hand is essentially the Zenfone 2 smartphone, but with a differently styled rear cover. The Zenfone Laser will be launched in two variants. While the Zenfone Selfie was announced at Computex 2015 earlier, all of these devices will start selling in India before anywhere else.

Asus announced these three phones in a preview meet held in Delhi yesterday, while the company will bring a host of other devices in India soon. While it is not confirmed yes, Asus should also announced the Asus Zenfone Zoom and its Zenpad series of tablets in India at its Zenfestival on August 6.

Further, “Asus has sold 16,00,000 lakh Zenfones in India since last year,” said Peter Chang, Regional Head, South Asis & Country, Asus. This of course includes its entire line of Zenfones, and Chang says that the company looks to expand much more. Interestingly, Chang also said that Asus is working on building a system where its own devices talk to each other, meaning if you have a Zenfone, an Asus laptop and tablet, they’ll be able to interact with each other. While the company already has such a system in its Zenlink, Chang said there’s more coming. The system is at least a year away though.
