For a long time now, we’ve been hearing a lot about Apple’s foldable iPhone. There have been plenty of leaks and rumours around the device, giving us a fair idea of what Apple might be planning. Now, a new report from Bloomberg provides more details of Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, including an interface that feels closer to an iPad. According to the report, when the foldable iPhone is opened, the interface may have a layout similar to the Apple iPad. The inner screen is expected to run two apps side-by-side, something that regular iPhones cannot do. Also, Apple is expected to provide developers with new tools so they can update their apps to work properly with the larger foldable display.

In terms of design, the device is expected to behave like a mix between an iPhone and a tablet. When closed, it may look like a normal iPhone with a standard outer display. But once opened, the screen size could be closer to that of the Apple iPad mini. Unlike many foldable phones that use a tall display, Apple is reportedly working on a wider design with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Interestingly, the foldable iPhone may not include Face ID. Instead, Apple could use a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. The outer display is expected to feature a hole-punch front camera for selfies.
For photography, the device is expected to house a dual-camera system on the back because of the space limitations, as per the report.
Despite having some tablet-like features, the device will still run iOS instead of iPadOS, meaning it may not support the full multitasking capabilities available on iPads.
