Apple iPhone 18 Pro durability test video leaked ahead of launch: Watch it here
A data breach at Apple supplier Tata Electronics has exposed drop-test videos of what is reportedly the iPhone 18 Pro
Reuters reports the leaked files carried Apple's confidential watermarks and codenames
Leaker Ice Universe called it "easily the biggest leak in Apple's history
A data breach at Tata Electronics, one of Apple’s key suppliers, has exposed what appears to be footage of the iPhone 18 Pro undergoing internal drop testing, months before its expected launch. Usually we get to see renders just weeks before launch but this is unusual territory for Apple getting caught in a leak, that too the actual footage of an upcoming iPhone this early.
SurveyAccording to Reuters, the breach exposed confidential files including supplier information and component lists, alongside photos and videos of the unreleased phone. The files reportedly carried Apple’s internal watermarks and codenames consistent with the iPhone 18 Pro generation. Reuters said it could not independently verify the exact model shown, but a source familiar with the matter identified the device as the iPhone 18 Pro. Roughly 200,000 internal files are reported to have been leaked onto the dark web in total, raising the possibility that more unreleased products, including Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone, could surface from the same breach.
Tipster Evan Blass shared the drop-test videos on X, giving the public an early look at the device. The footage shows a phone in a silver finish with flat sides, dropped repeatedly onto a hard surface in what looks like a controlled lab setting. It appears to survive the drops without visible damage, though the clips are brief.

iPhone 18 Pro drop test: What the leak shows about the design
The rear panel closely resembles the iPhone 17 Pro with three camera lenses in Apple’s familiar triangular layout inside a rounded rectangular camera island, an LED flash, LiDAR sensor and a centred Apple logo. The two-tone finish appears to have been dropped in favour of a single colour across the back. Some viewers online have suggested the grey shown in the footage may just be untreated aluminium ahead of final paint, meaning this stage of testing could be purely about structural durability rather than the final colour.
Leaker Ice Universe described it as “easily the biggest leak in Apple’s history,” noting that durability “seems solid” but that the phone looks “surprisingly thick,” with weight remaining a concern. He added that the real star of Apple’s 2026 lineup, the foldable iPhone, hasn’t surfaced yet, but warned that if it does turn up in the same breach, “it’ll go down as one of the biggest leaks the industry has ever seen.”
Beyond the drop test itself, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to bring Apple’s first 2nm chip, the A20 Pro, along with a larger vapour chamber for better heat dissipation, a smaller Dynamic Island and a bigger battery.
