The rumours about the next version of Android being called Lollypop seem to have been wrong. Evidence of the new name has been seen at many places.
After all those rumours about the next Android version being called Lollypop, it seems Android L is getting a different name after all. The new version will reportedly be called Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP). Evidence of this has reportedly been found on multiple official sources.
The sources include code and documentation, referring to the next version by LMP. The evidence has been seen in the preview builds of of Android L for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 smartphones. In addition, LMP has been mentioned several times in the Android Open Source Project repository.
Further, the WiFi certification document for the Nexus 9, which is made by HTC, lists the firmware as LMP.
It is important to note that this could be Google's working code name for the next version. For example, Android KitKat was originally known as Key Lime Pie (KLP), with evidence of the abbreviation KLP from similar sources. The partnership with Nestle though was revealed shortly before the launch of Android KitKat.
