Users around the world, including those in the US and India, are having issues with YouTube, which is causing disruptions. The platform is momentarily unavailable due to users reporting a black screen on both the website and the mobile app. Users are experiencing issues with the home page’s rendering and videos not loading even when their internet is active.
The outage peaked at 12:15 IST, with over 5,000 reports in the US and over 700 in India, according to real-time tracking service Downdetector. Significantly, 79% of the complaints on Downdetector were about issues with the website, and 18% had to do with trouble streaming videos. Just 3% of the total was related to the mobile app.
The outage has not been acknowledged by YouTube yet. Additionally, the company has not provided specifics regarding the cause of the outage. Thousands of users are unable to access their favourite songs, movies, vlogs, and other content due to what appears to be a technical outage.
It’s interesting that we can use the web and mobile app to access the Google-owned video platform. The platform is taking longer than usual to load the videos, though, and there might be some buffering problems as well. As of right now, there is no official announcement regarding the return date of YouTube services.
A flurry of social media reactions followed the incident, with users confirming they were not the only ones experiencing the glitch on sites like X (formerly Twitter). Some of the users have also found humour in the situation and trolled YouTube, Google and its services brutally by sharing memes, opinions and videos. We are attaching some of the best ones below.
