The EPFO’s verified WhatsApp service lets eligible members access four key services over the messaging app, which are as follows:
- PF balance: You can check the available balance in your provident fund account.
- EPF passbook: It also allows you to access information regarding your provident fund contributions and account.
- Latest five transactions: You no longer need to access the EPFO website or app to check the last transactions, as you can now simply view the last five transactions recorded in your PF account on WhatsApp itself.
- PMVBRY assistance: The subscribers can also avail personalised guidance on completing requirements under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.
The authorities clarified that the PMVBRY assistance is particularly useful for the members whose scheme-related requirements are pending because of incomplete Aadhaar authentication or other documentation issues.
How to check PF balance and more on WhatsApp?
If you want to access EPFO services through WhatsApp, the process is quite simple. However, before proceeding, it is important to note that these services cannot be accessed using just any WhatsApp number. You must ensure that the WhatsApp account you use is linked to the same mobile number registered with the EPFO.
Now, to access the feature, you can simply open WhatsApp > press the search box > type +91 8796441800 (the organisation’s verified number) > send ‘Hi’. Alternatively, you can also scan the QR code shared by EPFO on its official X account to directly access the verified chat. Once there, you can simply start by typing ‘Hi’.

Everything else announced
The WhatsApp service was not the only major announcement at EPFO’s 74th Foundation Day celebrations, as Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Labour and Employment, also launched an automatic settlement facility for eligible inoperative EPF accounts with balances of up to Rs 1,000.
Members with Aadhaar-verified inactive accounts will not have to submit individual claims in order to get their eligible dues under this initiative. Instead, before sending the funds to the appropriate recipients, EPFO will perform the necessary identity and bank account checks.
