UPI Down: Users unable to make payments on GooglePay, Paytm, PhonePe and other apps

UPI Down: Users unable to make payments on GooglePay, Paytm, PhonePe and other apps

UPI Down: Thousands of users are experiencing disruptions when making online payments through Paytm, Google Pay, and other UPI applications. The outage peaked in the early afternoon, leaving users unable to access or send money through popular platforms. Additionally, users are complaining about the SBI online banking application.

According to Downdetector, over 1200 reports of UPI complaints have been registered, with 68% for payments, 31% for fund transfers, and 1% for purchases. SBI and Google Pay have also seen a red graph with over 100 complaints as of writing.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which manages the UPI system, has not acknowledged the outage, and the cause of the outage remains unknown. On the other hand, the users have moved to social media platforms including X and Reddit and are expressing their frustration about the payment failures on the application. 

Some of the users have also found humour in the situation and are sharing memes, funny videos and opinions on the social media platforms. Here are some of the funny memes with the hashtag UPI Down.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time that UPI services have experienced disruptions. Similarly, outages occurred twice in early April 1. However, the NPCI stated that users are experiencing issues as the fiscal year comes to a close, and that some banks are experiencing intermittent transaction declined.

Meanwhile, SBI customers have complained about the temporary disruptions. The bank has not issued a statement regarding the outage, and the reasons for the disruptions are unknown.
