OpenAI’s ChatGPT Atlas Browser set to get these new features soon

OpenAI’s newly introduced ChatGPT Atlas browser, the company’s latest move to take on search giant Google, is already getting a slew of updates just days after its debut. The newly AI-powered browser, which integrates ChatGPT directly into the browsing experience, will soon get new features for better personalisation, productivity, and everyday usability.

Adam Fry, who heads OpenAI’s Atlas project, stated that the team is “heads down making it better,” revealing a list of upcoming upgrades. Among the most notable are user profiles, tab grouping, and an opt-in ad blocker, all of which are expected to roll out gradually over the next few weeks. Fry added that the update list also includes smaller but useful changes like an overflow bookmarks menu and additional shortcut options to streamline browsing.

“We’ve received incredible feedback since launching our new browser, ChatGPT Atlas, yesterday. We’re really focused on building the best product for all of you, and since launch, the team has been heads down making it better,” he said on X.

Speaking of AI, Atlas’s built-in intelligence tools will also get some improvements. The AI agent, available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, will soon deliver faster response times, better task pausing, and tighter integration with Google Drive and cloud-based Excel platforms.

Additionally, the AskChatGPT sidebar, which allows users to interact with the chatbot without switching tabs, will get a redesigned interface that makes it easier to manage multiple projects and switch between AI models.

OpenAI is also working on new convenience features, including a way to automatically restore pinned tabs after restarting and copy-paste support directly from the sidebar, two of the most requested user suggestions.

Fry also mentioned that Atlas will be partnering with 1Password to address compatibility issues. However, he did mention that some of the upcoming projects remain under wraps.
