Microsoft, in collaboration with iBall, has announced the launch of its first PC-on-a-stick device, the iBall Splendo. This will allow users to plug the device into a TV’s HDMI port and convert it into a fully functional PC. The iBall Splendo is bundled with a wireless keyboard and mouse unit, and priced at Rs. 8,999.

Specification wise, the iBall Splendo features an Intel Atom quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of inbuilt memory and is pre-loaded with Windows 8.1. It will also include Intel HD graphics, microSDXC card slot, USB and micro-USB ports, multi-channel digital audio, and WiFi and Bluetooth v4.0 connectivity.

Vineet Durani, Director of Windows Business Group, Microsoft India, has said that the iBall Splendo is for “tech enthusiasts who love gadgets, have access to multiple TVs at home, love the Smart TV experience and use Windows for browsing, social networking and multimedia consumption.” The device will be capable of carrying out regular work like checking mails and editing documents. Sandeep Parasrampuria, Director of iBall, claims that “the Splendo delivers the performance, cost and size that users’ need while efficiently meeting their computing needs anywhere and at any time.”

The iBall Splendo will be available for sale all over the country by beginning of July, across numerous IT and TV retail channels.
