So what’s happening is that Apple is reportedly developing a new technique to identify users based on their cardiovascular measurements. Once this becomes successful, users will be able to unlock the device pretty simply, by just holding an iPhone or wearing an Apple Watch.

How will this feature work?
It might not actually be a distant dream. See the Apple Watch currently has an ECG app. With this ECG app, users can easily monitor their heart rhythms. To unlock your device, this new technology will use these unique rhythms.
So if you wear an Apple Watch, you will be able to unlock all your devices without doing anything. It will literally happen in a heartbeat. The purpose behind this can be to improve security. It is a lot stronger than passwords and fingerprint scanners, and also convenient.
You would say that you can still unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch, but you have to first unlock the Apple Watch with a password. Once this heartbeat technology is out, you just have to wear the watch, it will take an ECG reading and then unlock your devices. You don’t have to put any passwords anywhere. As long as you’re wearing the Apple Watch, it would continue to verify your identity for other devices.
Apple has patented this technology. The patent is credited to Gloria Lin, Taido L. Makajima, Pareet Rahul, and Andrew B. Hodge. And this is not all, it is also working on an iPhone design where the device itself could measure heart rate simply by being held. The iPhone’s exterior would be transformed into a heart-monitoring device. So even if you don’t have an Apple Watch, this can work. With ECG data, Apple also plans to to detect a user’s mood.
