Features Google announced at MWC 2024

Gemini AI has been at the centre of focus for a lot of the new features that Google has announced. It includes the use of Gemini AI to craft messages, generate captions for images, summarise texts through AI for Android Auto, and also access passes on Wear OS.

Another feature that will roll out this week in its beta version only in the English language, for now, is that you will now be able to access Gemini AI within the Google Messages app.

Moving on, there’s another feature for Android Auto that will read out summaries of long text messages and contextualise group chats. It will even suggest replies.

Certain accessibility-related features were also discussed at the MWC 2024. The company is working to improve the Lookout app. This helps the visually impaired with stuff like documents, food labels, etc. Now, it will also generate captions for images that have missing or inaccurate captions or alt text with the help of AI.

The Lens in Google Maps will also see a certain improvement. Users can point their phone’s camera to something and the TalkBack feature will read information about places and signs.
