“You just can't differentiate between a robot and the very best of humans.” These were the words by the great scientist Issac Aismov. Techniche-2015, the annual techno management festival of IIT Guwahati exactly takes it from here and aims at extracting the terrific technical temperament amongst the youth of the country. Keeping this in mind the tech geeks of IIT Guwahati created a platform called ESCALADE which is a national robotics championship through which budding robot enthusiasts are encouraged to exhibit their skills on a national platform. Successfully organized for three years now by students of IIT Guwahati, this is the fourth edition of this technical extravaganza, and rightly called Escalade 4.0. This competition is conducted in two phases, prelims and mains.
The preliminary part of this event, or prelims, is scheduled on 12th of July in 12 cities across the nation. The major technical attractions of the nation-Pune, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bhopal, Indore, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Nagpur, New Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh and Guwahati stand as venues to this edition of Escalade. The students are advised to participate in teams and each team should consist of not more than 4 members.
The problem statement for this round is to design a manual bot which can translate on the bridge and put the color block in the respective color pit. The problem statement is so designed that even an enthusiast with little or no prior experience in Robotics can participate and learn the methods of modern day technology.
There would be top 6 teams announced as winners from each center and these qualified teams would be called upon to IIT Guwahati to participate in the mains round of Escalade. The problem statement of the final round would be revealed only after the prelims. The participants would then battle it out for the tag of National Champion, one of the most prestigious title given by a college festival and also for a total prize money of INR 80,000/-.
The teams would also get a chance to witness one of the most amazing and enthralling college festivals in India, Techniche 2015 at IIT Guwahati. The summit comprises of various lectures, competitions, exhibitions and nites, and is conducted from September 3rd to 6th. The participation fee is set at Rs.200/- per team and the students can be of any college or school. In today’s world where technology is used as a synonym for almost all purposes, such an event which helps students check their caliber on a national platform is quite necessary and important. The competition is also well supported by our partners and sponsors who are an integral part of the fest.
Such events are a rarity in the present day scenario and a technology student is highly encouraged to participate and learn to streamline his abilities with the modern day gadgets. One can register both online without much effort, and moreover many tutorials and guidance would be provided for enthusiastic beginners.
