Elon Musk, Tim Cook claim Apple-Twitter clash was a misunderstanding
HIGHLIGHTS

A clash between Elon Musk and Tim Cook has been brushed aside as a misunderstanding.

The two seem to be on good terms now.

Twitter is gearing up to launch Twitter Blue.

Earlier this week, Elon Musk accused Apple of withholding Twitter from the Apple App Store and questioning the brand’s stance on free speech. He also talked about how Apple has stopped advertising on the platform, leading to a loss in revenue. Now, in an effort to smooth things over, Musk met with Tim Cook, who assured him that Apple had no such intentions. According to Elon Musk, the whole thing was a misunderstanding and should be forgotten about.

What’s new with Twitter?

Elon Musk has been fighting tooth and nail to defend Twitter’s new policies regarding reinstating older, banned accounts and free speech, and it's no secret that the platform and its owner have both received a bit of backlash. Currently, the team at Twitter is working on the launch of Twitter Blue, the paid verification service that the social media platform has promised to offer. The service costs $8 per month and offers three different types of check marks. The first is a blue one, intended for individuals (irrespective of whether they are famous or not). The second is a grey one intended for governments, The third is a gold one, intended for companies.

Though Twitter had tried launching this in November, it led to various people impersonating others and simply buying the new check mark. Musk now only wants to launch this service once they are sure that they can weed out all instances of impersonation from the platform.

Reports state that Elon Mush is also very interested in getting into the payments market via Twitter, however, there is no indication regarding when that may happen and what form it will take. Musk also wants to capture the video content market by making Twitter a space for content creators as well. Whether this will destroy the essence of Twitter or enhance it is something that only time will tell.
