While the company has not yet shared any official details about the surprise, clues appeared when Altman shared a viral post by Arav Jain hours later announcing the surprise. Arav posted a screenshot of an email from OpenAI and showed clear excitement. The email said that OpenAI had increased the Codex rate limits of his account by ten times.
Codex, the specialised AI model designed to translate natural language into code, serves as the backbone for several major developer tools. OpenAI is giving programmers the ability to build more complex apps more easily and efficiently as they increase the limit of Codex for them. Moreover, this also shows that the company cares about the developers using Codex and wants to make sure they aren’t held back by restrictions when using its technology.

Arav was clearly excited by the 10x upgrade and tagging the OpenAI dev account; he called the move ‘crazy’. Altman later replied with a short and warm message saying, ‘We love you too’.
