Apple-LG smart home devices first look and features leaked: Here is how they may look
Apple and LG could launch a smart lock, video doorbell, indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostat, temperature sensor and more under a partnered association.
The smart lock may support auto-unlocking, tap-to-unlock, master codes and emergency power, while the thermostat could offer temperature and humidity controls.
The cameras may feature dual-band Wi-Fi, IR LEDs, microphones and speakers. However, the launch timeline remains under wraps for now.
Apple and LG are partnering to launch new smart home devices, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently claimed. The devices could include a doorbell, cameras, a thermostat, a smart lock, among other devices. These will likely be part of the ecosystem that will work with Apple’s upcoming smart home devices, which are rumoured to arrive on October 13.
SurveyThe co-developed products, which the South Korean firm will manufacture, could include a smart lock, video doorbell, outdoor and indoor cameras, thermostat, temperature sensor and floodlight camera. In a recent leak, new images and features of these devices appeared online, giving us possible hints on how these could look and what functionality they may offer.

Apple-LG smart home products (expectations)
Smart lock: According to tipster pdfu, the device’s keypad may rotate to open. The swivel pin may be used to limit rotation to one side. “Settings for Touchpad Light Ring, Door Left Audio Alarm and Lock Sound Volume” are expected. Plus, it may support auto-unlocking, emergency power, master codes and tap-to-unlock features. German added that the lock may have an ultrawide band to enable auto-unlocks based on the owner’s proximity.
Thermostat: The device is expected to get “Settings for Far Sight Display, Humidity Display, Brightness and Language,” and options for Calibrated Temperature/Temperature Offset.

Temperature sensor: The gadget will likely offer humidity and temperature sensing and may sport a magnetic back for attachment purpose. An adhesive metal plate could help users attach it to non-metallic surfaces. Plus, it may give battery replacement alerts to its users.
Video doorbell: According to @ringo_tech, the LG-branded doorbell could have two cameras (one main and another downward-facing). It will reportedly offer an AC-DC converter, two Wi-Fi antennas (support for 5GHz Wi-Fi and WPA2/WPA3 security) and a “USB board”.
Floodlight camera: The camera could have two lights on either side, IR LEDs, an ambient-light sensor, a microphone and a speaker. Plus, it may also get dual-band Wi-Fi support and “Thread and NFC antennas”. LG is expected to offer product support for these devices, including the cameras.

Outdoor and Indoor security cameras: The outdoor camera may have a “ball-joint mount”. These may get IR LEDs, an ambient-light sensor, dual-band Wi-Fi, a speaker and a microphone. It may use O-rings and “grease” for waterproofing and antennas similar to the floodlight camera. On the other hand, the LG Indoor Cam Plug-In may have a “motor-and-gear” mechanism to possibly offer vertical tilt and include Hall IC components.
