The devices are expected to be announced next week. However, they may not be available at the same time as Apple’s own smart home products. According to Gurman, the LG-made devices could take “at least a few more months” to reach the market.

Apple’s new smart home push is expected to focus on a new hub device. The product has reportedly been in development for several years and could act as the centre of Apple’s connected home ecosystem. The company is also expected to introduce an updated HomePod Mini and a new Apple TV set-top box as part of its plans.

The partnership is also notable for LG, which is better known for appliances, televisions and other large electronics than dedicated smart home accessories. The company has already worked with Apple in several areas.

With the new partnership, Apple may use LG’s manufacturing and product support network to expand its smart home lineup. The move would also allow LG to enter more areas of the connected home market. However, Apple is expected to keep its own smart home hub and other core products under its own brand.
