StarCraft 2 delayed to 2010, Modern Warfare will finally grace the Wii

We almost threw something big, blunt and heavy at the screen upon seeing this one. Activision Blizzard, the makers of the enormously successful StarCraft, have just announced that the highly-anticipated sequel will not be released this year, as was previously scheduled.
In fact, to say that StarCraft 2 has been the most highly-anticipated Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game is an understatement. It’s a bit like saying the Transformers 2 movie was highly anticipated before its release.
This was another game that had almost been relegated to the status of vapourware, much like any possible sequel to Duke Nukem. However, when Activision set a release date for it this year, fans were stoked!
Now, the company has backtracked and pushed the release date to next year. The blame for the delay was put on continuing work for their new online gaming platform, the revamped Battle.net, which is “an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward,” Blizzard noted.
Meanwhile, the company also showed their love for fans of the Nintendo Wii, who were feeling ignored as the console was not going to receive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is set to hit Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 10.
What does Activision have in store for the Wii? The first part, of course! Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will come to the Wii while all other gamers get to enjoy its big-brother sequel.
Does this remind anyone else of the cliché of the guy who forgot his wife’s birthday and tried to make it up by giving her a box of chocolates and some flowers?
