HIGHLIGHTS

In a surprising twist, Akshay Kumar and nCore have launched a new Battle Royale game

Called Fau-G, looks to take on the void left by the recent banning of PUBG Mobile

PUBG Mobile, along with 117 other apps have been banned by the Indian government

The recent banning of PUBG Mobile seems to have given homegrown game developers  a chance to try and crack the battle royale code locally. nCore Games is one such developer who has partnered with Bollywood actor Akshak Kumar to announce a new game called Fau-G, presumably pronounced ‘Fauji’ and not ‘Fog’. Like PUBG, Fau-G is also an acronym and stands for Fearless And United-Guards.

Fau-G will be a new Indian action game developed by nCore games in partnership with Akshay Kumar

Details of the game are still not yet known but as per the actor’s tweet, it will be an action game. Which could mean anything as everything from PUBG to Mario can be technically classified ‘action games’. However, the actor did let it know via the tweet that “Besides entertainment, players will also learn about the sacrifices of our soldiers.” Kumar also noted that 20% of the net revenue generated by Fau-G will be donated to @BharatKeVeer.

As mentioned earlier, details of the game are not yet clear. However, one could assume that nCore Games plans on releasing a battle royale game considering the fact that the announcement comes just a few days after PUBG Mobile was banned alongside 117 other Chinese apps. The mode garnered strong reactions from players, some of whom turned to memes to express their feelings.

nCore Games notes on Twitter that the game is “coming soon”, which makes sense as other games namely Call of Duty: Mobile and Garena Free Fire may already be capitalizing on the PUBG ban and the developer doesn’t want to be left picking up scraps. However, releasing a game that quickly might result in poor user experience due to bugs, glitches and other issues due to unfinished assets, unless the game (or atleast a version of it) has already been in development for a while. Of course, we’ll still have to wait and see what Fau-G has in store for us.
