GTA 6 demo reel leaked by Rockstar Games ex-employee, all we know

Some leaks are loud. Some are messy. And some quietly slip into the internet at 2 AM like they are sneaking out past curfew. The internet recently stumbled onto one of those quiet ones and the entire gaming community is excited once again. A short GTA 6 animation reel, reportedly uploaded by a former Rockstar Games employee, briefly appeared on Vimeo before vanishing into digital dust. One moment it was there, sitting innocently in someone’s portfolio, and the next it was gone, leaving the community chasing mirrors, screen recordings and Reddit reuploads. What followed was a mix of excitement, confusion, speculation and that familiar feeling every GTA fan knows too well- craving just a little bit more than what Rockstar officially unveils.

What was in the leaked GTA 6 demo reel

The first few seconds of the reel were enough to set the internet buzzing. A character walks up to what looks like a public bicycle rental station, grabs a bike, mounts it, rides it and returns it. A tiny logo reading “Lom Bikes” was also visible, which instantly sparked theories about a full bike-sharing system across Vice City.

Then came the more exciting bit. A female character, almost certainly Lucia, jumps off the bed of a monster truck. She hops down, lands cleanly and walks away like she’s done this a hundred times. It is a tiny animation, but it hints at more interactive vehicles, movement freedom, and ways to explore a world that Rockstar keeps promising will be their biggest yet.

Are the leaks real or fake?

There are leaks you can smell a mile away as fake but this wasn’t one of them. The format looked like a legitimate demo reel. Moreover, the uploader, Benjamin Chue, is also a verified former Rockstar animator. The animation quality matched Rockstar’s internal work. And the speed with which the video was removed felt familiar. The kind of “we really didn’t want you to see that” energy that the studio is famous for.

It is also worth noting that this happened just weeks after Rockstar reportedly fired more than 30 employees for discussing confidential information online. However, demo reels often contain prototypes, experiments, abandoned ideas and features that never make it to the final game. So while the bike station and truck bed animations look great, there is no guarantee they will survive all the way to launch.

GTA 6 launch timeline

Rockstar’s first official peek at GTA 6 came in December 2023, when a trailer introduced protagonists Jason and Lucia and confirmed only a “2025 release window”, industry insiders had speculated on a Fall 2025 launch, and even Take-Two executives publicly said late 2025 was the goal. The trailer’s unprecedented popularity (it drew over 93 million views in 24 hours underscored the massive excitement.

Later, the date was revealed to be May 2026. Now, the much-anticipated launch was recently delayed to November 19, 2026. The game will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on the launch day. A PC release date is yet to be announced.
