Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre are coming together for the first time on screen in a new crime thriller called Raakh. The show is based on one of the darkest real crime stories from India’s past and is set in Delhi during the late 1970s. This story is about a policeman who is on a mission to find what lies behind a brutal crime that causes shockwaves in the whole community. He discovers some truths that are difficult to accept. The first poster for the movie has been revealed, depicting Fazal in a police outfit at the scene of a crime. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series.

Raakh: OTT release date and platform

The series will make its OTT debut exclusively on Prime Video starting June 12. The interested viewers must have an active subscription to the platform to enjoy it from the comfort of their sofa.

Raakh: Storyline

Raakh is based on the real-life Ranga-Billa case and takes place in the late 1970s. It follows Sub-Inspector Jayprakash, played by Ali Fazal, who gets pulled into a tough investigation after two young people go missing. As he digs deeper, he uncovers dark secrets and hard truths that stay with him long after the case.

The show also looks at what the families of the victims go through. It touches on loss, pain, guilt and healing and shows how one crime can change the lives of many people forever.

Raakh: Cast and crew

Ali Fazal leads the series as Sub-Inspector Jayprakash, while Sonali Bendre plays a school teacher and a mother dealing with an unimaginable loss. Aamir Bashir appears as Lt Col Ashok Arora, a disciplined man facing personal grief. The supporting cast includes Akash Makhija, Ramandeep Yadav, Divya Sharma, Vivaan Sharma, Anshul Chauhan, Rakesh Bedi and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.

The series is directed and produced by Prosit Roy. It has been created, written and co-directed by Sandeep Saket and Anusha Nandakumar, while Ayush Trivedi has penned the dialogues.
