Bridgerton season 5 will finally bring Francesca Bridgerton into the spotlight after she spent most of the earlier seasons as a quieter character in the background. It will feature the show’s first same-sex romance.

Showrunner Jess Brownell has shared that the new season will continue to deliver the emotional storytelling and surprising romantic twists that viewers enjoy. The storyline is inspired by When He Was Wicked written by Julia Quinn.

Bridgerton season 5 storyline

In the upcoming season, Francesca Bridgerton will take centre stage as she is coping with the loss of her husband, John Stirling. Grieving deeply, Francesca steps back from society and chooses a quiet life away from the spotlight. Nearly two years later, she begins to consider returning to the social world once again.

Her life changes when Michaela Stirling, John’s cousin, arrives in London to manage the Stirling family estate. As Francesca and Michaela spend more time together, they form a strong connection that gradually develops into something deeper and unexpected. Through this relationship, Francesca begins to question her understanding of love and the future she truly wants.

Bridgerton season 5 release timeline

Netflix has not officially announced the release date of Bridgerton season 5 yet. However, reports suggest fans may have to wait quite a while. The next season is expected to arrive sometime between late 2027 and early 2028. Like the earlier seasons, the new chapter will be released exclusively on Netflix.

Bridgerton season 6 already confirmed

Even before season 4 premiered, Netflix renewed Bridgerton for a sixth season. This early renewal shows the makers’ confidence in the series.
