Sony is set to unveil the new flagship earbuds on February 12.
Sony’s next flagship earbuds, likely called the Sony WF-1000XM6 is set to launch on February 12. While we have seen the leaked renders of the device already, a new leak gives away its full specifications. The details come from tipster Billbil-kun and the leaked specs reveals what looks like a meaningful internal upgrade over the previous generation, particularly in processing power and noise cancellation.

At the centre of the upgrade appears to be a new QN3e processor, reportedly three times faster than the chip inside the Sony WF-1000XM5. On paper, that is a significant jump. For buyers, this likely means more responsive adaptive noise cancellation and better real-time adjustments based on surroundings. Sony is also said to be increasing the number of adaptive microphones from six to eight. In practical use, that should translate to more consistent blocking of traffic noise, office chatter, or aircraft cabin hum, areas where Sony already competes closely with Bose and Apple.
The WF-1000XM6 reportedly features a new driver unit, alongside an improved DAC and amplifier. For listeners, that could mean better sound experience. The leak suggests the support for Hi-Res Wireless audio via LDAC and DSEE Extreme upscaling could continue.
This could be coupled with a 10-band equaliser in the Sony Sound Connect app.

Call quality appears to be another focus. The leak mentions beamforming microphones, a bone conduction sensor, wind noise reduction, and advanced AI processing. If implemented well, this could improve voice clarity in noisy outdoor conditions.
In terms of comfort and design, the earbuds are said to feature an optimised ergonomic shape with insulated ear tips and an in-app fit test. Better passive isolation from improved tips can directly enhance ANC performance, since active cancellation works best when combined with a proper seal.
Battery life is said to be up to eight hours on the earbuds, with an additional 16 hours from the charging case. This matchies the previous generation. Furthermore, fast charging and wireless charging are reportedly included, which keeps the experience in line with premium expectations.
Among other details, we also learn about the presence of LE Audio, Auracast, multipoint connectivity, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and IPX4 water resistance, 360 Reality Audio with head tracking, adaptive sound control, Quick Attention mode, and Speak-to-Chat
If you are using older models such as the WF-1000XM3 or XM4, the reported jump in processor speed and microphone count could deliver a noticeable improvement in both ANC stability and call quality. If you already own the XM5, the improvements may feel more incremental unless real-world testing confirms a clear leap in noise cancellation or sound clarity.
