WhatsApp may finally let you use two accounts on one iPhone: Here’s how it could work
New feature allows adding a second account via phone number or QR code.
Users can instantly switch accounts without logging out or restarting the app.
Special notifications will show which account received a message, improving clarity.
WhatsApp has previously stated that it intends to make managing multiple accounts easier. According to new reports, Meta’s instant messaging platform is currently working on a feature that will allow iPhone users to add and manage multiple accounts from within the same application. The feature was first discovered in the iOS 25.9.10.70 beta and improved in the latest 25.19.10.74 beta release on Test Flight, according to the WaBetaInfo report. It aims to enable users to switch between multiple WhatsApp accounts without the need for third-party apps or WhatsApp Business.
SurveyAccording to the report, the new feature will be accessible through application settings and will include a dedicated option for viewing all linked accounts. All accounts will have separate chat histories, settings, and notifications, allowing for a clear distinction between personal and professional communication. Users will be able to create a second account using a new phone number or link an existing one via a QR code.
Interestingly, switching between accounts does not require logging out or restarting the application. The transition will occur instantly, with a confirmation message appearing on the screen to indicate that the switch has been completed. It will display each account’s profile picture and name, allowing you to easily navigate between them.
The company is also developing a notification system to help manage messages across multiple accounts. So, if you receive a message from another account, you will receive a formatted notification that includes both the sender’s and the receiving account’s name. Tapping this alert will automatically switch the user to the appropriate account and initiate the conversation.
This feature could be especially useful for iPhones that support eSIM technology, as it allows users to store and activate multiple phone numbers without having to switch devices. It is worth noting that WhatsApp has not confirmed the official timeline, but the multi-account feature is currently being developed and will be included in a future update.
