What Is UPI One World Wallet?
The UPI One World wallet is a digital payment solution tailored specifically for international visitors to India. This wallet eliminates the need for carrying cash or dealing with complex foreign exchange transactions.
The UPI One World wallet can be availed through authorised PPI issuers at airports, hotels, designated money exchange locations and other touchpoints, following a full KYC process based on a passport and valid visa. Once issued, visitors can load the wallet with funds either in cash or through other payment modes.
Initially introduced at the G20 summit, the UPI One World wallet is now being made available to travellers from a broader range of countries. The service is designed to facilitate real-time payments at various merchant locations, which can be completed by scanning QR codes. This functionality ensures that tourists can experience the ease of UPI payments, similar to how millions of Indians conduct their transactions daily.
It’s worth noting that any unused balance can be transferred back to the original payment source, in accordance with foreign exchange regulations.
