Railways has finally met long-pending demand for an Android application of the IRCTC railway ticket booking service.
Finally, IRCTC has launched an application for the Android platform. Called the IRCTC Connect, the app is already available on Google Play store for download.
The IRCTC Connect app for Android features One Step log in for existing customers, search and book train tickets and view and cancel tickets. The app also retains recently added passenger details. New users can register from the application directly.
“Rail ticketing now made simpler just by SWIPE and SHUFFLE, SELECT and BOOK. Install the newly launched IRCTC android app and book a railway ticket anywhere in India at your fingertips,” says the app description. You can download the IRCTC Connect app from Google Play store.
It's notable IRCTC has already launched its mobile applications on Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 platforms. Users have long demanded an IRCTC application on the Android platform, which is also the most popular mobile platform. The new app will certainly help more people book tickets through IRCTC on the go.
So far, the IRCTC Connect app has seen 5,000-10,000 installs. The app is compatible with Android v4.1 and above.
