Google Maps will soon notify users when to get off buses and trains
HIGHLIGHTS

Real-time updates and live guidance will be given while a user is in transit and will appear in the Google Maps app.

Google is working on introducing live guidance and real-time interactive updates on Google Maps for users transiting on buses and trains, as reported by Tech Crunch.

The real-time updates will be given while a user is in transit and will appear in the Google Maps app. The unconfirmed report by Tech Crunch also points out that the updates could be displayed on Android lock screen as well.

Once users search for transit directions, they will see an option to press 'Start' at the bottom of the screen on the Google Maps app. This will start the live guidance and updates.

The report goes on to say that Google Maps will even remind users to get off a bus or train when he/she gets close to a stop — a feature useful when you are traveling somewhere new.

Google Maps currently gives detailed transit directions with the process generally involving keeping track of progress along the route.

With this update, transit notifications become a bit more like using Maps for walking, biking and driving, the report said.
