Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was configured and the government of India established the Aadhar program. Aadhar Card constitutes a twelve-digit unique identity number that contains the demographic and biometric information of every citizen of the country. The main aim of the Aadhar Card is to offer the advantages and services of the government to the citizens of India. 

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) offers a host of facilities to an Aadhar card holder that includes – online Aadhaar services, such as phone number and address changes, name updates, and more. It might often happen that once your Aadhar has been given to you after verification you find a mistake in your address, or you have changed your address recently. Under such scenarios, you have to change your address on the Aadhar as well. 

In a previous article, we talked about how to link your mobile number to your Aadhar card and here we will take a look at how to change your address on your Aadhar Card. Address on Aadhar can be changed both online and offline. 

How to Change Address in Aadhar Card: Online

You can change the address on your Aadhar card online with a few simple steps - 

1. To initiate the process visit http://uidai.gov.in/. This is the home page of the Unique Identification Authority of India
2. From the top left corner of the website, go to ‘My Aadhar’
3. From the drop-down menu select ‘Update Demographics Data Online’
4. Select ‘Proceed to Update Aadhar’ next and fill out all the necessary details in the designated area
5. After you have filled out the information select the ‘Send OTP’ option. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. 
6. Fill out the OTP that you have received on the website
7. Once you are done, go to the demographics data section and fill in the relevant information
8. Once you have filled out the information click on ‘Proceed’ 
9. In this step, you have to upload a scanned copy of the address proof as a verification document
10. Once your verification is done you can get a preview of your changed Aadhar card. UIDAI will offer you a URN with which you can check the status of your updated card.
