OnePlus 15 vs OnePlus 13: Here are major changes you should expect
OnePlus has started teasing its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15. The smartphone first came into the spotlight during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip launch event. OnePlus CEO Robin Liu has confirmed that the upcoming device will be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor. Along with that, the brand has also revealed the design of the OnePlus 15, hinting at an imminent launch. We expect that the launch of the OnePlus 15 can take place in the first week of November, and leaks suggest the same. But the launch timeline isn’t the only thing that’s surfaced online. Several features of the OnePlus 15 have also been leaked, which could turn out to be wrong, but that’s highly unlikely in such cases. So, if you’re excited for the OnePlus 15, here are some major changes you should expect in comparison to OnePlus 13.
SurveyOnePlus 15 vs OnePlus 13: What’s new and different?
Let’s start with the design first, because we are getting a major revamp there. The OnePlus 15 doesn’t look like its predecessor at all. Remember the OnePlus 13s? That small but powerful OnePlus 13 series phone? The OnePlus 15 seems to follow that same design language. Instead of a circular camera module, OnePlus decided to feature a squarish camera module on the top left corner. Apart from that, the curved edges are gone, and it’s properly flat this time. And last thing that we could notice from the official OnePlus 15 posters is that it’ll come in two colours – Mist Purple, Sand Storm, and Absolute Black.
Moving on, OnePlus recently shared on Weibo that the OnePlus 15 will feature a third-gen BOE Flexible Oriental OLED display. This display is said to come with 1.5K resolution and support up to 165Hz refresh rate. According to the company, the new screen will offer 13% more HBM brightness, 11.8% better colour shift, and a 30% longer lifespan compared to the OnePlus 13.
As I mentioned earlier, the upcoming flagship phone is confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. According to a few early benchmark tests, this chipset has scored over 4 million points in AnTuTu, which is pretty unreal for smartphones. For geeks like me, this chipset comes with 8 big cores: two clocked at 4.61 GHz and six clocked at 3.63 GHz. The OnePlus 13’s Snapdragon 8 Elite also has 8 big cores, but with slightly lower clock speeds.
For photography, you will get a triple 50-megapixel camera setup, as per a known Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The smartphone is rumoured to have a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor with up to 3x optical zoom. As per these leaks, there are no major changes on the camera front, as the OnePlus 13 also houses a similar camera setup.
And lastly, the battery seems to be getting a solid upgrade. According to rumours, the OnePlus 15 could pack a 7000mAh battery with support for 120-watt fast charging and 50-watt wireless charging. For comparison, last year’s OnePlus 13 offered a 6000mAh battery with 100-watt fast charging and the same 50-watt wireless charging.
So, these are some major changes that we are expecting on the OnePlus 15 over the OnePlus 13. If you are excited about this upcoming flagship device, stay tuned for more information.
