Nexus 4 in India may lose its charm to X Phone due to unavailability
HIGHLIGHTS

Poll reveals the Indians aren't interested in waiting for the Nexus 4 anymore but are looking forward to the X Phone.

Back in October 2012, Google unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Nexus 4. The device, made by LG, saw a massive demand in the U.S. and Europe with Google Play store showing the Nexus 4 ‘out of stock‘ in a matter of minutes of the release.

The Nexus 4 comes with an impressive set of specifications such as Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280×768 pixel, 2GB of RAM and 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, and most importantly killer price tags [ In the US, the 8GB variant is priced at $299 (Rs. 16,500 approx.) whereas the 16GB variant is priced at $349 (Rs. 19,000 approx.)].

The Google Nexus 4 is believed to have a huge potential to succeed in developing and price-sensitive markets such as India. The smartphone was reportedly slated to launch in the country in November 2012. Unfortunately, the Nexus 4 is yet to be officially available in the country despite having generated a lot of interest amongst Indians.

The delay on the part of Google may have prompted many of the Nexus 4 enthusiasts in India to look for other options with similar specs and price tags or wait for Google’s next smartphone called the X Phone. In our last weekly poll, we asked you “With no new signs of Nexus 4’s India launch; would you rather wait for the X Phone?”.

We’ve received a total of 340 votes out of which majority of the readers – 161 (48 percent) – said they would wait for the X Phone now. As many as 93 (27 percent) respondents were indifferent to the Nexus 4 delay as they voted for ‘I don’t care about the Android smartphones’. Only 86 respondents said they would prefer to wait and buy the Nexus 4 at the launch.
